WINNER – THE CHURCHIE NATIONAL EMERGING ART PRIZE
I am beyond excited to announce that I am the winner of the Churchie National Emerging Art prize for my work How the Stars Stand.
It is an incredible honour to have had my work included alongside the remarkable finalists and totally overwhelming to have received this year's prize.
I’d like to thank The Churchie and the team at the QUT Art Museum for all their hard work putting such an incredible exhibition together. I’d like to thank Brand and Slater Architects for their continued support of emerging artists, as well as all of the other sponsors of this great event.
To Monika and Shauna at Open Source Gallery — thank you so much for having confidence in me and in this project. I think there were many times that your belief very much outweighed my own, and without your support, none of this would have happened.
I’d like to thank Dr. Michael Allison of NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies for sharing his remarkable knowledge and poignant introspection regarding the nature of interplanetary time.
And lastly to my husband and life-long collaborator Dr. Darren Engwirda — who crunched the numbers on this project (and many others) — thanks for putting up with the emotional turmoil that was Mars. I love you greatly.
If you are in Brisbane please check out this amazing show at the QUT Art Musuem — it's on until November 13th!
